VH-1 isn’t ready to give up on the runaway success of the Rock of Love reality show, even if Bret Michaels won’t go another round. The music channel appears ready to move on from the perpetually bandana-clad Poison frontman, but not by much; the big rumor making the rounds is that Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora is waiting in the wings to take his place.
Sambora might be better suited for another show on the network, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, in the wake of his March arrest for DUI where he also had two children in the car.
The 48-year-old guitarist pleaded guilty to one count of drunken driving, was fined nearly $2,000 and allegedly plea bargained the rest of the charges. He was also placed on three years of “informal probation” according to celebrity dirt site TMZ.com, a condition of which doesn’t allow him to drink or abuse drugs.
That might throw a bit of a wrench into the Rock of Love plans, as the show is built on a foundation of scantily clad females boozing it up with a single rocker. No one wants to see a sober Sambora preaching about the dangers of partying while looking for a true love with which to share the rest of his life.
This is Rock of Love remember, not The 700 Club. If you’re going to be looking for love, it’s gotta be the sinful, alcohol fueled kind.
VH-1 however, was quick to call the rumor “absolutely not true.”
“Every time Rock of Love ends, people start placing their bets on which rock star will be the next to publicly search for love. Until you hear officially from us, none of that is reality.”
